MQHYA Member Spotlight: Abby Eddy

This month, we are featuring MQHYA President, Abby Eddy from Rocheport, MO.

How long have you been showing horses?

As long as I can remember! I started out showing lead line with my parents at local circuit shows and 4-H shows.

What is your horse’s name and what classes do you show in?

My current horse's name is Josie and we show in horsemanship and showmanship, but are working on trail and western riding as well!

What is your favorite horse show to attend?

My favorite horse show to attend is the AQHYA world show! I truly love getting to stall with all of my friends that I have made through MQHYA, and doing things with my team members! We get to do everything from eating pizza with the rest of our region, to competing in the team spirit award contest! I have gone to the Youth World for multiple years now, and competed in different events, as well as contests such as public speaking, boots and jeans decorating, horse judging, etc.

What is your favorite part about being a member of MQHYA?

My favorite part about being an MQHYA member is all the new friends that I have been able to meet!  I really enjoy riding and showing horses, but being able to know the other people in my classes, makes it that much more fun!

What are your hobbies outside of the horse world?

Outside of the horse world I enjoy cheerleading. I'm on both the sideline and competition cheer teams at Hickman high school. I'm also a member of FFA and am working on getting more involved with the leadership side of that!

What do you want to be when you grow up?

When I grow up I plan to be either a financial advisor (like my dad) or a lawyer.

Do you have any other pets? What are their names?

Yes, I have 2 dogs! Both of them are miniature Australian shepherds, and their names are JD and Suzzie.

Is there anything else you want people to know about you?

I'm so excited to be this year's MQHYA president! I hope that I will get to see all of our members in person very soon as we have a lot of fun and exciting things planned in the year ahead!
