MQHYA March 2022 News

Hello everyone! The weather is getting warmer, so lucky for us that means the MQHA Maple Leaf Show is approaching! I’m looking forward to seeing you all at our next show.

MQHYA has a lot coming ahead, so please be sure to read through all this newsletter! Our MQHA and MQHYA apparel is still available for sale. We have a handful of MQHA and MQHYA t-shirts, long sleeve t’s, and quarter-zip sweatshirts in multiple color options. We are excited to announce we have added MQHA tumblers and travel mugs! We will have the items available for purchase at the upcoming MQHA Maple Leaf, Show-Me Spring, and Gateway Classic horse shows - as well as some of the Carthage shows. This is a great fundraiser for MQHYA and an awesome way to show your MQHA spirit!

MQHA Maple Leaf

March 24-27 | National Equestrian Center, Lake St. Louis

We will have a table in the Arena A area selling MQHA and MQHYA apparel. We need youth members to help work the table so if you are interested in helping, contact Cara or myself! In addition to the apparel, MQHYA will hosting the following fundraisers:

Yoga Challenge

○ Led by Ms. Kim Hibdon

○ Friday before the show at 7:15am

○ Nominate a person to participate for $10

○ Nominated people can buy out for $20 (up to two times)

○ If the nominee doesn’t show up, they owe MQHYA $25

○ Kim is also going to have a coffee table with a donation basket outside her stalls/in the aisle at all MQHA shows this spring. She said all money collected in the donation basket will go to the youth. Very kind and generous of her!

We will need youth (who are not competing on Friday morning) to help with this fundraiser.

Gateway Stall Raffle

○ The MQHA board donated one stall for Gateway to the youth. We will sell raffle tickets for this stall at Maple Leaf, Show-Me Spring, and Gateway shows - and draw the winner on Saturday morning of Gateway.

○ Tickets are $5/each, 5 for $20 & 15 for $50

Electric Scooter Raffle

○ The Shafer/MCAlexander Barn graciously donated an EB5 Electric bike/scooter (valued at $600) to MQHYA to raffle.

○ They ask that half of the proceeds from ticket sales go towards the Cindy Reddish - Stand for Cindy Fund (AQHA Professional Horseman and judge - close friend/mentor of Anne’s who was injured in a horse-related accident and is no longer able to walk)

○ Tickets are $20/each, 3 for $50 & 6 for $100

Directors at large and anyone else who would like to help, please think about making 1-2 flyers or posters each to hang around the NEC to promote this event. If you have any questions or ideas, feel free to contact Cara or I and we would love to help you help us!

Speaking of activities and fundraisers, your MQHYA officer and director team has created four committees for this year:
