MQHA Trainer Spotlight: Amy Kirkland

My name is Amy Kirkland of Buckner, MO.

I specialize in training for the All-Around events and have started to add Ranch Classes the last 3 years.

My stalls are currently full (check back frequently) but anyone is welcome to haul in for lessons.  Call or text for availability.

I have lived in Missouri all my life, been showing for 36 years, and training for 22 years.

My favorite event was always showmanship.

My favorite class to watch is Hunter Under Saddle.   I love to watch a big floaty trot!

My favorite horse of all time was my Youth Barrel Horse “Royal Bailey Sails”.   It is so hard to pick because I feel like I have so many favorites.   Surenuf Rulin in Gold and BCQH Diamond Lass are right up there with him.

If I wasn’t a horse trainer I would be completely lost. I have never thought about anything else and can never image a life that is different.

My favorite thing about MQHA is how encouraging and helpful everyone is.   I loved the convention too!

I used to scrap book but once I had kids that went out the window.

My favorite food is Mexican from a specific Restaurant named Rancheros.

My favorite fun class at a horse show was the flag race.

My favorite movie is “The Count of Monte Cristo” the 2001 version.

My Dream Vacation would be to take my kids to Universal Studios.

The thing I am not good at but do anyways is cooking.  Lol

One thing on my bucket list is to breed my own home-grown horse that has a great show record/championship etc.

Something people don’t know about me is that as a senior in college I tried out for a theater production and got a small part.  I always liked theater, but never had been involved.  I figured it was my last chance.
