Where are you from? Springfield Missouri
How long have you been showing horses? Since 1994
What is your favorite horse show? Ozark Quarter Horse shows for local shows, AQHA world show, NSBA world show, WCHA futurity
Tell us about your family. My Husband David got me into showing halter horses. We have been married for 29 years.
How did you get hooked on horses? As a child I rode a pony daily. My stepdad used to show at the Ozark Fair grounds in the late 1970’s and I used to dress up and hand out trophies.
What is it about horses that makes you want to work with them and compete? A complete passion for horses. I have loved them since I was a child.
What would you tell your younger self (in relation to showing)? Keep riding no matter your age or your job commitments.
What horse(s) and event(s) are you currently showing? Hunter under saddle and performance halter
What are your goals? Qualifying. Putting points on a 7-year-old horse that has never been shown before, and getting back in the saddle after not riding English for 23 years.
Who do you look up to in the industry? Kathi Lawrence, Ted Turner, and Steve Lyons for their dedication.
Do you have any superstitions when you show? Don’t set your hat on the bed.
Who is your all-time favorite horse? Dinero. And why? In 2019, I won at the AQHA World Show, the Congress and the NSBA World Show in the performance halter, and I had to learn a speed event to qualify.
If you were not at a horse show, what would we find you doing? Working.
Do you have another job…besides taking care of your horses? I’ve been practicing law since 1990.
What is your favorite thing about MQHA? Good turnout at the shows, the point system and the awards.
What is your favorite hobby besides showing horses? Shopping.
What is your favorite food? A Good hamburger and fries.
What is your favorite restaurant? Lucky J Steakhouse at the shows
What is your favorite movie? All the old high school movies.
What is your favorite quote? Better to have it and not need it. Then not have it and need it.
What is your dream vacation? Charleston SC
What are you terrible at but love to do anyway? Trading cars.
What is one thing on your bucket list? Going to Scotland, England.
Tell us something most people don’t know about you? I enjoy museums and visiting beautiful Catholic Churches.
One piece of advice you would like to share with exhibitors who are just getting started. Never give up and believe in yourself and your abilities.
