Missouri Quarter Horse Youth Association - July 2021 News

Hey everyone! I can’t believe I am writing a newsletter for July already! Lucky for us, that means it is closer to some more fun events in the horse world. I hope that you have gotten to get your horses out and go to some shows.

Youth Excellence Seminar:

This year's YES seminar is happening now in Amarillo, Texas! Missouri has two members running for leadership positions: Abby Eddy and Hazel Myles, both for Region 3 Directors. The voting delegates for MQHYA will be Abby Eddy, Kelly Coonce, Brooke Inchiostro, and Hazel Myles. Members in attendance are participating in leadership sessions, hearing from keynote speakers, and much more! If this is something that sounds interesting to you, be sure to sign up next summer, we would love to have more members be involved!

Here is who is attending YES:

Youth World:
AQHYA recently announced that they are bringing back the AQHYA World Championship Judging Contest live and in-person on August 2 in Oklahoma City. Contestants will judge eight classes and deliver oral reasons as they compete for prizes, a scholarship, buckles, and the world champion title! Find more details here.

The entry deadline is July 26. MQHYA would sponsor the entry fee for a team. We would love to put together a horse judging team for this year’s Youth World, so contact Cara ASAP if this interests you!

Congress NYATT Team:

Each year MQHYA forms a team of members to compete at the National Youth Activity Team Tournament (NYATT) at the Congress. The All-American Quarter Horse Congress hosts the largest team tournament competition in the world. It brings together many youth from state and regional Quarter Horse associations across the U.S. and Canada. We still have team spots open in western pleasure, hunter under saddle, reining, and barrel racing if this interests you.

It is a fantastic year for MQHYA and it’s never too late to get involved. Through various fundraisers and events, we can always use volunteers! Always feel free to contact Cara or myself if you have any questions, ideas, or concerns!
