Missouri Quarter Horse Youth Association - May 2020 News

Hello! As I am sure many of you have already heard, the Gateway Classic show was canceled which means we will have to wait just a little while longer to see each other in person. I hope you are all doing as well as possible and managing your daily lives the best you can!

The 2020 Bank of America Youth Excellence Seminar (YES) in Amarillo, Texas will now be held virtually. While it is sad we won’t be together, the YES seminar will still be held virtually at no cost! All registrants who paid will be automatically refunded. This may not be the ideal situation, but it will still be a great learning experience that you can enjoy from the comfort of your home. If you are interested in running for a director or an officer position, the deadline for application materials is this Friday, May 15. For more information on the virtual YES click here.

If you are planning to show at the AQHYA World Championship Show this summer and have not submitted your Letter of Intent, you need to contact Cara asap. There have been many modifications that will make this Youth World a bit different than previous years so be patient and ready to make this show fantastic! Cara sent an email yesterday with these details. Our officers and parents in charge are already working on how to make this show unforgettable!

Don’t forget about the other opportunities to get involved at Youth World. AQHYA hosts horse judging, speech competitions, art contests, and more! MQHYA sponsors the cost of all contest entries from members. See all contest opportunities and information here.

Our Reporter, Abby Eddy is already hard at work on our team scrapbook for the Youth World. Please email (abbyloueddy@icloud.com) or text (573.268.2782) her pictures of you with your horse, you with other youth members, etc. that she can include!

We are planning to have an MQHYA youth member Zoom next Wednesday, May 20 at 7:00pm. Stay tuned for further details for that meeting where we can hopefully clear up some questions and plan for some fun activities!

I hope you are all doing your best and maintaining a positive attitude through all this. Stay safe and we will hopefully see each other soon! I can’t wait to see all of your faces and watch your success in the show pen!

Best regards,
