MQHYA January 2024 News

Dear MQHYA family,

I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and a Happy New Year! I want to share details for our Annual Youth and Parent Meetings during the upcoming MQHA Convention & Awards Banquet, January 19-21 in Columbia.

Our meeting schedule is a little different this year than in years past, but I am excited and think it will work better for us! Below are the youth activities you should be aware of:

Friday, January 19

6:30pm

Youth Social Event - Hot Chocolate Bar and Party

Saturday, January 20

8:30-10:30am

Youth Meeting (We will elect 2024 officers and directors, select 2023 annual award recipients, discuss Youth World Show and Congress NYATT team activities, make plans for the Youth Excellence Seminar (YES), determine fundraisers and fun activities for the year, and more.)

Between the Youth and Parent Meetings, we encourage youth members to attend the General Membership Meeting.

12:30-1:00pm

Youth Lunch & Parent Meeting (I invite and encourage all parents to attend - especially if your youth is participating in YES or our Youth World Show and Congress NYATT teams. This will be held in the same room as the lunch, we will just split the room.)

1:00-3:00pm

Youth Team Building Activity (We will be making something special that each youth member gets to take home! I need an accurate count for this in advance (by January 16) so PLEASE reply to this email to rsvp for the activity letting me know how many youth members in your family or group will be joining us - please include names!)

Be sure to check out the complete MQHA Convention schedule here.

*If 2023 was your last year as a youth member and you are planning to attend the convention I invite you to attend our first-ever Young Adult Social from 4:30-5:00pm on Saturday in the Antler Bar area at Stoney Creek!

Youth members, if you are interested in running for an officer or director position, please see the attached document detailing the responsibilities of each office. Remember, be sure to have a brief speech prepared for the position(s) you are running for.

If you have not done so already, be sure to complete your 2024 MQHYA membership so you will continue to receive the newsletter and important updates and information. You can find the membership form on the MQHA website – www.moqha.com

I look forward to seeing many of you in Columbia later this month!
