MQHYA March 2024 News
Hello, everyone!
I’m looking forward to seeing you at the Maple Leaf show this week! MQHYA has a lot of exciting news and events ahead, so make sure to read through this newsletter to stay “in the loop”.
MQHA Maple Leaf
March 20-23 | National Equestrian Center, Lake St. Louis
MQHYA will have a table in Arena A where we will be selling our NEW 2025 apparel! It is a great fundraiser for MQHYA youth and an awesome way to show your MQHA spirit!
Note: We need youth members to help work at the table!
If you are available during the show, please stop by to help run the sales!
We are still planning to have a few “Power up tokens” hidden around the Maple Leaf Horse show Saturday morning for younger kids to find! Tokens can be redeemed for a prize! If you would like to donate a prize for this activity, please just bring it to the youth table with the shirt sales.
Youth Labor Auction:
Thank you to all that have donated their time to be auctioned at the MQHA banquet. You should have received an e-mail from Leslie with contact info for who purchased your time so you can get in touch to fulfill the hours you committed. The Maple Leaf show would be a great place to get those work hours completed! Please reach out to Youth Advisor Leslie Skouby if you have any questions or need any contact info to get in touch with someone. Please let Leslie know once your labor hours are completed.
Doolittle Trailer Raffle:
Doolittle Trailer MFG. Has generously donated a 77X14 7,000LB tandem axle utility trailer for us to raffle. We will sell tickets starting at the Maple Leaf through the MQHA Charities Fall Festival show Nov 1-2, 2025. Tickets are $20/each or 6 for $100.
Team Challenge Fundraiser
During the first half of the Maple Leaf show we will be hosting a Team Challenge. Entries will be made in the show office, and the show office will assign teams of 3 based on 1 youth, 1 amateur, and 1 open rider per team. Points will be totaled for each team member for each class they enter for the first half of the show for a total team score. The Winning team members will each win a set of corn hole boards! There will be prizes for the second-place team as well. Please consider entering the team challenge and tell your friends to do the same.
Youth Excellence Seminar
Join us at the 2025 Bank of America Youth Excellence Seminar (YES) July 8-10 in Amarillo, Texas!
Registration is now open! The priority registration deadline is June 1. YES offers a variety of activities to enhance your leadership skills, improve your knowledge of the equine industry, and connect you with like-minded horse enthusiasts. Be sure to check out the tentative schedule to see what is in store for this three-day, action-packed event! If you are interested in running for an AQHYA Officer or Director position, the deadline to apply is June 1. Please reference the Guide to Campaigning.
If you are planning to attend YES (including parents and those willing to chaperone), please let Youth Advisor, Leslie Skouby know as soon as possible so she can include you in our team travel plans!
Letter of Intent
Each year, MQHYA sends a team to compete at the AQHYA World Championship Show and participate in the National Youth Activity Team Tournament (NYATT) contest at the Congress. If you are interested in participating in either of these events, you must file a Letter of Intent with MQHYA so that your MQHA points can count toward your qualification. The 2025 Letter of Intent form is attached. Please contact Youth Advisor, Leslie Skouby if you have questions or need assistance.
Change of Affiliation forms
If you are planning on joining Team Missouri from another state at the Youth World Show, you must submit a Change of Affiliation form. These forms are due to AQHA by June 1 and require several signatures.
New This year for the National Youth Activity Team Tournament (NYATT) at The Congress they will have their own hardship policy for Congress NYATT teams requiring a separate change of affiliation form. The Change of Affiliate deadline will be May 1, 2025. Any forms received after May 1st will not be accepted. I have attached the Change of Affiliate form. This must be signed by the residency affiliate youth advisor, and the affiliate requested youth advisor.
Sincerely,
